IBMG Acquires Merkko Builders Merchant
The Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG), the largest independent builders merchant group in the South of England, is pleased to announce that it has acquired Merkko Builders Merchants Ltd (Merkko), expanding its network of builders merchants into Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
Merkko is a highly successful independent builders merchant supplying trade and retail customers across Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Headquartered in Abingdon,
Oxfordshire, with 2 branches in Kingston Bagpuize and Aldermaston, both stocking a comprehensive range of construction materials for building and civil engineering projects. Merkko has demonstrated strong organic growth since its formation.
Following its recent merger with Grant & Stone, this acquisition continues IBMG’s strategy of developing its divisions through a combination of acquisition, new site development and organic growth. Strategically it will extend the IBMG’s builder’s merchant offering, providing a strong platform for further growth. Culturally, both companies are highly aligned, sharing a common vision, independent ethos and commitment to providing the highest standards of customer service.
This partnership resolves future succession for Merkko and secures the right custodian for the business – one with a shared vision and values. Merkko will join Grant & Stone and Ian Duckitt, Merkko’s Owner, will continue with the business working with Mat Miller, Managing Director for Grant & Stone Builders Merchants, to ensure Merkko’s successful integration into the Group.
