IBMG Nominated for the BMF Training Company of the Year 2023

Independent Builders Merchant Group nominated for training excellence award

National trade body, the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has announced the Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG), headquartered in Polegate, East Sussex, as one of five nominees for its Training Company of the Year 2023 Award.

Nominees are selected by BMF Regional Managers based on their commitment to supporting and developing their teams through BMF training.

As well as rolling out business and development training plans throughout the divisions of the Group, IBMG has also invested in bespoke BMF training packages across the business, including a full training schedule for entry level, as well as promoting apprenticeships in conjunction with BMF.

“This nomination helps demonstrate our ongoing commitment to learning and development throughout our 177 branches – extending from Penzance to Margate, East Anglia and north to the Midlands, as well as in our branch support centre too.

“Developing our teams and supporting career progression at every level is a core part of our strategy to recognise, reward and develop our people, helping them thrive in the short, medium and long-term.”

IBMG launched in 2018 and has grown through more than 20 acquisitions to become one of the largest builders merchants in the South of England.

The company retains many strong local brands while operating as one integrated company led by a single management team.

IBMG was nominated by BMF Regional Manager for London, South East and Anglia, Neil Osborne.

He said: “IBMG is a fast-growing independent merchant group that has identified development and training as a core part of its strategy, and has committed to a continuous training and development programme that helps and supports the career path of its staff.”

The BMF Training Company of the Year 2023 will be announced at the BMF Members’ Day Awards Dinner on September 21, following the BMF Members’ Day Annual Conference at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham.
