Independent Builders Merchant’s Group (IBMG) is the largest building materials distributor in the South of England, formed through more than 20 acquisitions made since the start of 2018. The policies and procedures endorsed and employed by the Organisation including social, environmental and sustainability, health and safety, employment and ethical, will be communicated to all staff and will be reviewed at Management Review meetings to ensure compliance to relevant legislation and to maintain, review and refine procedures accordingly.

We will assist our customers to maximise social, economic and environmental wellbeing of local communities in accordance with The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.

This policy is supported by our sustainability strategy and delivered through collaboration with our supply chain.

  • Partnering with charities and community organisations (both nationally and at a local level) to support employment opportunities and environmental regeneration to meet local needs and on key themes to deliver additional community benefits.
  • Ensuring materials spend remains within the local economy where possible

  • Supporting small, medium, micro-sized businesses, social enterprises to improve capability and grow sustainably.

  • Continue to work towards obtaining ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System accreditation.
  • Applying effective mitigation control measures to reduce air pollution, noise, vibration and nuisance within local communities to minimise impact on health.
  • Promoting sustainable and ethical procurement in our supply chain in accordance with international standards and certifications.

  • Maintaining clear accountability for delivering this policy
  • Monitoring and reporting our social value impact as requested.
  • Continuously improving our standards, efficiency and effectiveness

We will communicate this policy to our employees, supply chain partners and relevant interested parties and review it on an annual basis.

This policy applies to all employees and other personnel engaged in IBMG operations.
