We’re now expanding our team at our Parkers Building Supplies Hassocks branch and are looking for a reliable Yard Operative / Van Driver to support yard operations and customer deliveries.
What You’ll Be Doing
Yard Duties
- Assisting customers to locate and load materials
- Loading and unloading supplier and customer vehicles
- Operating a forklift (if licensed)
- Keeping the yard clean, organised, and safe
- Carrying out stock checks and reporting damages or shortages
- Following all Health & Safety and PPE requirements
Driving Duties
- Delivering building materials to customers using a company van (up to 3.5t)
- Planning efficient delivery routes in line with schedules
- Ensuring loads are secured and paperwork is completed accurately
- Providing friendly, professional customer service on every delivery
You’ll be the face of the branch on the road, representing Chandlers Roofing Supplies with every delivery.
✅ What We’re Looking For
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience in a builders’ merchant, trade, or construction environment (preferred but not essential)
- Good knowledge of building materials (desirable)
- Forklift (counterbalance) licence desirable – training available
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and outdoor work
- Reliable, flexible, and a strong team player
⏰ Working Hours
Week 1:
- Monday–Friday 07:00–17:00
Week 2:
- Monday–Friday 07:00–17:00
- Saturday 07:00–12:30
